Image Quality Metrics

The ability of an imaging system to "resolve" detail in a scene is primarily characterized by two metrics:  Sensor Resolution and Functional Resolution.

Ability of the imaging system to capture detail in the image

Ability of the imaging system to capture detail in the image

Ability to reproduce colors accurately for specific color spaces (sRGB, Adobe RGB, ProPhoto and ECI)

Spatial registration of the three camera color planes (red, green and blue)

Assess color shifts in the gray patches

Light sensitivity of the camera & correct exposure

Location of the target within the Field-of-View (FOV) of the camera.

Granular non-uniformity of the neutral patches

Lighting and camera sensor uniformity across the camera’s Field-of-View (FOV )
